What do I do as a player?

Build your character as you would normally, just be sure to take into consideration that only class features up to level 8 per class are relevant, and up to 5 for prestige classes. All classes, and all class archetypes are allowed and suggested. The only limitation is that variant multiclassing is not usuable. The primary benefits of variant multiclassing are lost when after reaching level 6, taking single levels into any class for their class features offers a similar benefit that variant multiclassing gives you, and while still keeping your feat progression based on your character level.

What do I do as a game master?

There are a few important things to take into consideration when running a game using G6. The first is player acceptance and understand of the G6 system. Make sure that all players in your campaign understand the rules of the G6 system. The second is how you—the game master—handle itemization and encounters. Generally the items awarded to players should never exceed the power level of items given to characters at levels 6 to 8 in a normal Pathfinder setting. Refer to the character advancement page to see the suggested player wealth by level. This range is the top end power level of items and wealth that players should casually have depending on how generous the game master is to players. This is not something enforced by G6, but it is suggested. If some legendarily powerful artifact is necessary to story, then by all the power to you, go ahead and let your players wield it. As for encounters, there is no real limit to how high you can make the power level of encounters your players will face. However, take into consideration how that encounter is framed to your players.
